Would you like to attend a masterminding event where you get to learn, swap ideas and take part in discussions on the latest small business marketing thinking? Come to #focusonmarketing!
What is #focusonmarketing?
If you didn’t know already, #focusonmarketing is a regular event aimed at bringing Shropshire small business owners together to learn from eachother, share experiences and knowledge and is a forum for supporting your peers to embrace all that the wide subject of marketing has to offer.
What’s the format?
#focusonmarketing is an informal masterminding event. I lead it, but I don’t talk at you. Everyone sits in a circle. You don’t have to do a 60 second pitch (just introduce yourself) and if you’re shy, then don’t worry – you can listen (but we’d love to know what you think).
The Agenda
7:30-7:40 – Claire opens the event, plus intros from everyone
7:40-8:00 – Initial discussion – This time, with so many small businesses around, is it easier to compete by having a small and well-defined niche? Is the ‘micro-niche’ a myth or a reality?
8:00-8:10 – Huddle – split into groups (topic to be revealed on the night)
8:10-8:30 – Present findings from ‘huddles’
8:30-8:45 – BREAK
8:45-9:30 – Open discussion and specific questions on competitors – are you in need of ideas? Do you want to know how to develop and make the most of your USP? Now’s your chance!
9:30 – CLOSE
Where and when is it?
The next event is at 7:30pm on Thursday 20th September 2012 at the Cock Hotel in Wellington. There is a free on site carpark.
How much does it cost?
The event costs £10 on the door. This also includes chips with bread and butter in the break (by popular demand!) and a follow up ‘Best Bits’ email packed with tips, resources and links following the event.
What do I need to bring?
Feel free to bring business cards in case you make some useful contacts, but this isn’t a networking event. We’d love to see some people collaborating as a result though!
What’s the theme this time?
This session’s theme is ‘Beating the Competition’. We’ll be exploring, discussing, sharing experience and learning about various aspects of analysing competitors including where to find information on them, how to track/monitor what they’re doing, how to stand out and how to identify and make the most of a USP (Unique Selling Point) plus anything anyone needs help with at the moment.
So, your prep is this – come along with a burning question about how to beat your competitors, whether they’re new, old or potential threats And, come along with something you’ve tried that you’d recommend to everyone else. We all have a contributions to make here and we’ll all come away with some useful info!
How do I book?

Looking forward to seeing you there!
